Made of cocobolo, one of the finest woods in the rosewood family, a wood so dense that it sinks in water. All edges are rounded, including the bottom, and sanded and finished to a high standard, so the box feels silky smooth to handle. All corners use traditional (and time consuming) joinery – a stronger join than modern methods. The sides of the box are coordinated in terms of grain and color. The handle is handcarved, and the top panel is floats to allow movement and prevent warping. I sign and date each piece. Heirloom quality for a great price!
Note: Joinery is photographed using a box with contrasting woods for greater visibility.
