This lignum vitae bowl is a one of a kind art piece turned by the famous artist Barry Biesanz. The foot of the bowl is hand carved; the top of the bowl follows the curve of the wood grain.
Each woodturning is unique. Barry says, “I don’t look to impose a shape, but to uncover one that reflects and interacts with the natural fractal harmony.” This art holds its value for resale and can be found in art appraisal databases.
Each piece is signed by the artist.
Lignum vitae is also known as ironwood or Guacium sanctum; it is one of the hardest and heaviest woods known. Lignum vitae is naturally green in color. The color will darken to a jade color.
