This house only 1.5 hours from San Jose, Costa Rica, on the estuary by Caldera Beach. It has a swimming pool, good fishing right out front (snapper and roosterfish) and a place to launch a boat onto the estuary in front of the house. It has good surfing, and access to three beaches: Coralito, Tivives, and Caldera. There is jetski rental nearby, and bungee jumping. There are nature trails nearby. It's close to several very nice hotels and restaurants: Hotel La Roca, Hotel Fiesta, and Hotel Caletas. It borders on National Park Garabito on one side. (I have posted the dates the house is available below. )

This house has three bedrooms (two large one small), kitchen, living room, and bathroom and an upstairs terrace (about 4,400 square feet total plus the garage and pool). There's a nice view of the estuary from the upstairs terrace. One of the bedrooms has a king size bed, and the other has a queen size. Each bedroom has a closet. There is a connection for a telephone - it needs to be reconnected. The house is two stories. The electricity is U.S. standard 110 volts with US style plugs. There is a little cot that works as a crib for small children. The kitchen has a coffeemaker, pots and pan, dishes, and tableware and a stove. There is a guard named Ulises who looks after this house and several nearby farms. For an extra charge there is a neighbor named Glenda who can wash clothes and clean house.
The house is in a little town called Mata de Limón, by Puerto Caldera, not far from Puntarenas. The house is private because it's on the end of a dead end street. The mangroves in Garabito Park are on the other side of the house. The last 800 yards are gravel road, accesible by regular car. But you probably want a four wheel drive car if you're going to make day trips around the area, especially some of the places to hike. There is a 'mini supermarket' nearby, and a regular size discount supermarket nearby called "Pali." The local markets have a nice selection of fruit because there is a fruit producing town nearby (Orotina). There's generally nice seafood available too. Caldera beach is about four kilometers long.
Nearby day trips include Jaco beach (well known for surfing); Rio Tarcoles (for watching crocodiles and scarlet macaws); Tivives beach and Esterillos. The bungee jumping place is called "Nido de Aguilas", and it's two kilometers away. It has a restaurant where you can watch the people jumping. There's also a place nearby at Roca Carvallo where you can walk two kilometers down on the beach. There are also places that rent waterskiing equipment.
To get to the house, take the freeway west past the airport towards Puntarenas and Jaco. Follow signs for Puerto Caldera. (Click on the map for a larger image)
Here's the same map formatted vertically so you can print it. I recommend you print it out before you come.
DISTANCE TO THE BEACH: The nearest beach is 800 yards away (Caldera beach). It's a level path. The estuary and boat launch is right out front.

Remember to mention 'Don Nilo's beach house' in your email, and let me know what your specific questions are. Rental@ biesanz. com is my address (Sarah). I'm helping Don Nilo rent his house, so you will be paying him. I'll have to refer back to him for some questions because I've never been there. It helps to speak some Spanish so you can communicate with Don Nilo, the landlord.
